The weigh

Hop, skid, roll. Then a stamp. Never the other way.

Cal reads three marks on the carpet before Maren is allowed to touch a loft machine.

Mark one: hop death

The first bounce should die inside a walking step. Floyd wind makes a high face look brave and then dump the ball sideways. We watch hop death on a dry afternoon and again if you actually putt at dawn.

Mark two: skid end

Skid that runs past a pace you can name is a low face arguing with bermuda grain. We add loft in small bites. We do not jump a full degree because a chart said so.

Mark three: roll start

Roll that starts after you have already missed is worthless. The stamp exists so roll starts while the hole is still a target, not a memory.
